Noting the Timeline in Narratives
Authors or writers of narratives narrate their stories in a sequence of event by giving emphasis on some events that had happened in the past in relation to the present situation the main character is currently experiencing. This to further convey the thoughts they want to express.
Chronology - is a technique used in narration to present the even in an orderly manner. Chronology means the order of events from the beginning to the end. You can actually number the sequence of event in which they occur to see exactly the chronological presentation of events.
Flashback - is a section of the literary work which interrupts the sequence of events to present a previous event in which it is closely related the to current event the main or any character in the narrative. In movies, this is usually presented in a black and white picture to give emphasis that the event being shown was done in the past.
Juxtaposition - in narratives means recalling an event simultaneously with what is actually happening. This is actually the combination of both chronology and flashback.
